And people wonder why america is upset with hypocritical politicians

WOW - this is so amazing, how do these people keep getting elected

Jesse Jackson's Newest Staff Member: You can't make up stuff better than this!

Jesse Jackson's Newest Staff Member

Mel ReynoldsJesse Jackson has added former Chicago Democrat Congressman Mel to Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll. Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clinton's last-minute forgiveness spree.Reynolds received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud, and lies to the Federal Election Commission. He is more notorious, however, for concurrently serving five years for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer.

This is a first in American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate....won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate...then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate!

His new job? Ready for this??

Another reason I'm glad I stoppd buying Newsweek

Waiting to get my oil chamged today and grabbed 2 copies of Newsweek,

the first I read was a 4 page article by Alther about how Obama is actually just misunderstood, then he blamed the media for the way the "real Obama" is incorrectly portrayed.
well, i read all the media reports about Obama before, during and after his election; i would have to disagree greatly with Jonathan. But, nice try, i understand that reframing the real issues before November is part of your narrative.

then i opened the next issue of Newsweek. It listed the USA as the 11th best country in the world, then went on and on about why we are still great. What?!? This is THE Greatest Country in the World. Every country has its flaws, we are not alone, but last time I checked people were literally dying to get into this country. And once people get here, they don't seem to turn around and go back. Nor is there a flood of Americans bedning over backwards to leave.

The only good thing I read in both issues was a one page article from an employee of McKinsey about how to build a strong American economy. That was a great article, that should have been the lead, but instead it gets buried like any article that tout capitalism and competition.

oh well, at least I don't waste my money on a subscription when I get the same "message" on my evening news at home.

Only the Strong are Left

Recently I have spent a great deal of time selling consultative services to manufacturers. My firm actually works in many industries, I just happen to be focused on a manufacturing area.

Only the Strong have Survived.

1 or 2 years ago, our conversations were all about "cutting costs." Lets stop the bleeding, control cash flow, scale back the "company's lifestyle."

Only those that successfully cut costs are still around. Yes, there is an exception to every rule, but dozens of dozens of manufacturers in 6 states can't be wrong.

Today, the owners know they dodged a bullet, they know that they survived because they were proactive. BUT, now its all about sales!!!

Get me the sales, show me the sales, help me find the best salespeople, lets look at pricing to generate sales, etc., etc., etc. Thats all I hear.

Since only the strong have survived, now we are down to the Quarter Finals of a tough tournament. All the riff-raff are gone. Time to work on sales, quality is a given, fight for a bigger piece of a smaller pie, or get ready to grab market share when your industry turns around.
